Lake Merritt Youth and Public Recreation Facilities Projects and Information
Studio OneThis $10 million project involves complete renovation of the historic Studio One Art Center. Originally built as an orphanage in 1894, this unreinforced masonry building requires extensive seismic reinforcement, new heating, ventilating, lighting, and plumbing systems, plus interior and exterior finish work. Construction was completed in April 2008. Contact: Project Manager East Oakland Aquatic, Sports and Recreation Facilities$10 million of Measure DD money has been allocated toward this project, which is located at Ira Jinkins Park on Edes Avenue. The project is being built in phases as additional funds are raised.
