The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch in the Black Wall Street District in Oakland is one of few US living memorials dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This exhibit is designed to pay homage to Dr. King, view unique exhibits illustrating his life, teachings and the ongoing efforts to fulfill his great dream.

The gallery will host a visual art and literary event in celebration of women from all color, size, age, gender, local and international as a form of politics/non-politics and as a body of thought. Erasing the indistinct lines of class, gender and geography, and celebrating even the contradicting facets of womanhood. This exhibition is inspired by the work of Ntozake Shange.  Ntozake means "she who comes with her own things” and Shange means "who walks like a lion." In celebration of Black History Month, the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco and AAMLO present the screening of the documentary Inside Buffalo, a documentary that tells the story of the 92nd Buffalo Division, an African American segregated combat unit that fought with outstanding heroism in Italy in WWII. Director Fred Kuwornu, an Italian filmmaker of African heritage, searches out little-known aspects of the story, including details of the friendships forged between African American soldiers and the partisan fighters and villagers they liberated from fascist rule.

Mindful Drumming is a transformative learning process that offers individuals the opportunity to experience diversity through rhythm and sound. Mindful Drumming is an art form that facilitates building relationships and synergistically builds community. Issues can be addressed in a communal manner through the art of synchronistic drumming. In a primal way we may never fully understand, drumming brings us into rhythm with one another, our community and our planet.
