Oakland Celebrates the Dream Opening Ceremony
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Frank Ogawa Plaza, in front of Oakland's historic City Hall, 14th Street and Broadway, Oakland

Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as Oakland marks Dr. King’s 79th Birthday. Event will feature remarks by youth development and violence prevention pioneer Dr. Joseph Marshall as well as live entertainment by the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and the Oakland School for the Arts. An inspirational dance will be performed by Carla Service of Dance-A-Vision Entertainment. A resource fair with information on community events and celebrations commemorating Dr. King will also be presented. In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved to the Elihu M. Harris State Building at 1515 Clay Street.
