| AGENDA MANAGEMENT
The Agenda Management Unit produces and distributes the weekly City Council and Council Committee meeting agendas. As key staff for Council meetings, Agenda Management staff prepare the legislative agendas, verify the posting or publishing of legal notices, coordinate the scheduling of public hearings, and complete the necessary arrangements to ensure effective meetings. Agenda Management is also responsible for recording the official legislative actions of the Oakland Redevelopment Agency (ORA), City Council, and Council Committees.
The legislative process for the City of Oakland involves a review of proposed legislative actions by six Council committees. The committees are Public Works, Finance and Management, Community and Economic Development, Life Enrichment, Public Safety and Rules and Legislation. Each committee is comprised of four (4) Councilmembers assigned by the President of the City Council. It is from these committees that items are forwarded to the Oakland Redevelopment Agency and Oakland City Council for final action.
Five of the committees Public Works, Finance and Management, Community and Economic Development, Life Enrichment and Public Safety meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. The Rules and Legislation Committee meets every week on Thursday. The full council meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays of the month.
