Oakland Community Action Partnership

The City of Oakland's Department of Human Services Community Action Partnership (CAP) receives federal Community Services Block Grant funding from the State's Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) to help fight the war on poverty. Part of a broad network of 1000 CAP agencies across the country, the Oakland CAP has been funding programs and projects in the low income community for more than 30 years. Program priority areas include the following:

    • Family Self-Sufficiency
    • Job Training/Employment
    • Advocacy
    • Homelessness/Hunger
    • Hunger/Nutrition

Vision

To assure all citizens of Oakland equal and fair access to resources, which will produce a healthy, safe, clean, educated, and economically-sound, productive community, respecting their rights and values.

Mission Statement

To eliminate poverty and its effect on the City of Oakland.

Purpose

To plan, develop, and execute efforts to alleviate poverty and work toward institutional change to enhance the ability of the poor in the City of Oakland to achieve self-sufficiency.

 

As of September 13, 2004, a Request for Applications (RFA) will be issued. Programs and projects requesting funding must focus on outcome-based housing, job training/placement, and/or supportive services for low-income residents.
