12th Street Project Update
February 10, 2011 -- Foundations and abutment walls at the new bridge location are complete, and other retaining walls are being constructed. This will be followed by work on the bridge span formwork. The placement of lightweight concrete fill has resumed, raising the grade at the bridge approaches. Paving, drainage, and electrical work near the Courthouse is also underway, requiring some temporary lane closures. Drainage and concrete work along Lakeshore Ave is also underway.
When the new bridge and roadway are completed in late summer 2011, the viaduct along the Lake edge can be demolished, and the new park and channel constructed. The project is scheduled to be completed late in 2012.
