Proposal: Landmark nomination submitted by owner.
Recommendation: Adoption of Resolution Initiating Landmark Designation

Environmental Determination: Exempt per Sections 15061(3) and 15331 of the State CEQA Guidelines.

Proposal: Design Review of rehabilitation of exterior for reuse as a mixed-use building.
Recommendation: LPAB Action - Recommend approval of design review, with conditions.

Zoning: C-55 – Central Core Commercial, S-17 – Downtown Residential Open Space Combining Zone
Environmental Determination: Exempt per Sections 15061(3) and 15331 of the State CEQA Guidelines. 
Historic Status: PDHP, API contributor to the Downtown Historic District, minor importance, potentially secondary importance; National Register contributor to Downtown Historic District; OCHS Rating:  Dc1+

Recommendation: LPAB Action - Recommend adoption of Preliminary Rating Sheet and direct staff to prepare Resolution to Initiate Landmark Designation.

Zoning: C-35 – District Shopping Commercial Zone, S-4 – Design Review Combining Zone

  • Chair appointment of LPAB sub-committee (Gilmartin, Hooks, Lee) and meeting to review design proposal for Cox Cadillac site.
  • Request for Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board National Trust Grant Application Letter of Endorsement.
  • Certified Local Government Report for 2002-03 (October-September) due to State Office of Historic Preservation end of February.

UPCOMING AGENDA ITEMS

  • 230 Bay Place - Cox Cadillac: Mixed-use project, including up to 125 residential units over a three-story parking garage podium, 40,000 square feet retail grocery store comprised of the existing 11,700 square-foot auto showroom and 28,300 square feet of new construction attached to the north of the showroom.
  • 2345 Broadway: Mixed-use project, entails phased redevelopment of the project site with approximately 398 residential units, 21,164 square feet of retail space, and 583 parking spaces. Site includes buildings rated Cb+3, C3, and C2+.
  • 1720 MacArthur Blvd Altenheim: Development of affordable, independent senior rental housing units in a two-phase proposal, including Phase I renovation of original wood-frame buildings and dining hall and Phase II renovation of 1913 masonry wing and construction of new buildings.
