  Status Report Letter to City/Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board on negotiations regarding possible sale of property with understanding the buyer would rehabilitate the Historic buildings and areas of the Center.

 

Recommendation:

Review and comment on status letter.

Proposal:

Request from applicant for reconsideration of LPAB direction on  upper level exterior shingles to remain natural (i.e., stained and/or sealed).

 

Recommendation:

Review and consideration of applicant submittals, including cost comparison estimates and color proposals, and direction to applicant.

Environmental Determination:

City Council approved an Addendum for the Oakland Clean Water, Safe Waterfront Parks and Recreation Trust Fund Ballot Measure in June 2002.  The current project will be reviewed using this document as a basis of information.  Any further documentation necessary will be provided prior to approval of final construction project.  

Historic Status:

Potential Designated Historic Property; Rated B2+ on the Preservation Study List; (‘B’ – indicates Major Importance;  ‘2’ – Area of Secondary Importance; ‘+’ -  indicates contributor.)

Oakland Adaptive Reuse Committee, Planning Commission July 6, 2005:  Request from the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board (LPAB) to the Planning Commission to create a Committee composed of one member of the LPAB, one member of the Planning Commission, a representative from the Building Department and the Fire Department and a Developer representative to review Los Angeles’ Adaptive Reuse Ordinance and consider it as a model for an Adaptive Reuse Ordinance for the City of Oakland.
