APPROVAL OF MINUTES of April 14, 2003

BOARD REPORTS

  • Preservation Week Celebration: Report on events by Board Member Gilmartin.

  • Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Avenue: Sub-committee (Dreyfuss, Hooks, Lee) report on design modifications to address sub-committee comments on Design Review referral of an application for a Minor Conditional Use Permit to construct a new 106-seat chapel, and an approximately 18,800 square foot mausoleum and columbarium, located along the main circular driveway. Ratings of individual buildings and the cemetery are:

    • Gothic Chapel (PDHP on the Local Register; OCHS rating: A1+);
    • Administration Building (PDHP on the Local Register; OCHS rating: A1+);
    • Cemetery [Potential Designated Historic Property (PDHP) on the Local Register;
    Oakland Cultural Heritage Survey (OCHS) rating: Area of Primary Importance.

SECRETARY'S REPORT

  • California Main Street Program: Elimination of funding in Governor Gray Davis’s proposed budget; proposed legislation - AB 1123 to transfer the California Main Street program to the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Office of Historic Preservation (OHP).
  • Friends of 9th Avenue Terminal: Status of 9th Avenue Terminal Landmark Application
