Proposal: |
Planning Commission consideration of whether the Oakland Unified School District’s (OUSD) proposal to acquire 18 parcels for the construction of a new public school (1) complies with the City’s General Plan with respect to location, purpose and extent; and (2) whether the proposed sites are suitable for a school. On May 10, 2000, the Planning Commission found that the District’s acquisition of 18 other parcels, adjacent to the parcels under consideration, conformed with the City’s General Plan and was an appropriate use of the parcels. In order to adequately accommodate a new public school, the District is now considering acquiring additional 18 parcels. |

Proposal: |
Planning Commission consideration of whether the Oakland Unified School District’s (OUSD) proposal to acquire one parcel for the expansion of an existing public school (1) complies with the City’s General Plan with respect to location, purpose and extent; and (2) whether the proposed sites are suitable for a school. The expanded school, to be called the Ascend School, would serve grades kindergarten though 8th. On July 11, 2001, the Planning Commission found that the District’s acquisition of nine other parcels, adjacent to the parcel under consideration, conformed with the City’s General Plan and was an appropriate use of the parcels. In order to efficiently accommodate the new school, the District is now considering acquiring one additional parcel. |
