HOMEWORK CENTERS

I am committed to helping all our children move toward academic excellence. Our Homework Centers will help a large number of students who need that extra encouragement in order to succeed.

The mission of our Homework Centers is to improve the scholastic achievement of our students. They provide a safe and supportive environment where children can complete their daily homework assignments. Teachers provide them with assistance in understanding and completing homework, and give remedial work in basic academic subjects. Teachers and parents will work closely together to meet the needs of the children and the community.

Our centers focus on social skills, where kids work with teachers to set goals. Groups come together to get counseling, and discuss day to day problems. Cooperative games which develop vocabulary skills are encouraged.

We have fifteen centers open Monday through Thursday. For information about a homework center in your neighborhood, please call Kenneth Leary 238-3092.
