The Parking Program enforces and manages provisions of the California Sate Vehicle and Oakland Municipal Codes. The Parking Meter/Parking Citation Operations collects revenues from on-street parking meters and off-street parking metered lots.

This program benefits motorists, pedestrians, residents, merchants, shoppers, and visitors. The revenue collected from meters and citations support such programs as the Disabled, Aging and Kids First.

It also supports the State and County's court and jail construction and the City's Sanitation Street Sweeping Program. The Parking Division also coordinates with numerous parking enforcement organizations (i.e. Highway Patrol, Union Railroad, OPD Scofflaw Unit, Park Rangers, and Port Officials).
