Parking Meter Operations is responsible for collecting parking meter revenue from the on-street and off-street parking meters, repairing, replacing, and installing new meters.

Meter Hours & Rates:

The meter hours are in operation from 8:00 am – 6 pm Monday through Saturday. Parking Meters have different time limits throughout the City and the purpose is to encourage parking turnover. Please check the meters for the maximum time allowed for parking; staying at the meter over the maximum time allotted including broken meters is a violation of the Oakland Municipal Code and the violators will be cited.

Parking meter rates:

•  $1.25 in the Central Business District (From N. Side of Grand Avenue to S. Side of Embarcadero and E. Side of Oak Street to W. Side of Martin Luther King, Jr. Way)

•  $1.00 all Areas of Oakland Except Central Business District (As Defined Above)

Only the following days are considered meter holidays:

• New Year's Day (January 1 st)
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• President's Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day (July 4 th)
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
