The
Hunger Program stages two special events each year, the annual
Thanksgiving Dinner and the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
-
Easter Egg Hunt - The annual Easter Egg Hunt for
Oakland kids is held at the beach area at Lakeside Park,
Lake Merritt. The event is staffed by volunteers. Food,
entertainment, and treats are provided through generous
donations from local residents and businesses. To volunteer
for the event, or to make a donation, call 510.986.2721.
- Thanksgiving
- The annual Thanksgiving Dinner for needy and low-income
Oakland residents and their families is held in downtown
Oakland during Thanksgiving week. This multi-cultural
event is staffed entirely by volunteers, and the food
is provided by donation from local residents and businesses.
The event features live music, entertainment, celebrity
waiters, and a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with all
the trimmings. To volunteer for the event, or to make
a donation, call 510.986.2721.
