Food Programs

City of Oakland Hunger Program - The City of Oakland Hunger Program distributes limited quantities of emergency food to Oakland residents five times per year. Brown bags of food are distributed only on scheduled days at designated food pantries and community-based organizations. Notices of each distribution, including the date, time and location of distribution sites are also posted on the website in advance of each distribution. More info...

  • To find out the date and time of the next food distribution, call 510.238.6590.
  • The City of Oakland Hunger Program distributes food on a scheduled basis only. To receive immediate assistance with emergency food as needed, contact the Alameda County Community Food Bank Hunger Hotline at 1.800.870.3663.
  • Food is distributed through a network of community-based organizations called the Emergency Food Providers Advisory Committee (EFPAC). In addition to the distribution of emergency food, EFPAC also advises the City of food policy issues. To find out more about EFPAC, call 510.986.2721.
