Statement of Purpose:
The Cable Franchise Authority was established to protect the public interest in a rapidly changing telecommunications and utilities market, while providing the highest possible service to the public.
Functions of the Cable Franchise Authority
Answers questions concerning cable television providers
Assist subscribers in resolving complaints concerning various services offered by cable television providers
Educate the public regarding cable television and telecommunications rules and regulations
Mediate disputes between subscribers and cable television providers
Manage the cable franchise contract between the City of Oakland and the Cable TV Provider
Administer the rules and regulations governing the use of City Rights-of-way by cable television, telecommunication providers, utility companies and others
