When you subscribe to cable television, your cable system offers you the option of choosing from different programming packages. Most rates remain unregulated. Federal law does not allow the City to set or regulate the rates charged to subscribers for most cable related services. The Federal Communication Commission is the federal administrative agency charged with regulating communications by radio, television wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's Cable Services Bureau Consumer Protection Division is at 445 12 Street, S.W. Washington, D.C. 20554 or call 1-888-225-5322 or 1-888-CALL-FCC www.fcc.gov As a matter of policy, the FCC has decided not to allow local regulation of cable rates, except in a limited basis of the basic service tier rates may be subject to local review. For more information on rates please see Facts about Cable Television Rates A franchising authority is the local municipal, county, or other government organization that oversees your cable television services at the local level.
