The Governance Group hosted a meeting attended by Police and Fire Chiefs from the urban area. A spokesperson from the federal Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (IC TAP) made a presentation charting the path the committees of the Interoperable Communications are taking to attain the strategy’s goal. The policy makers support a regional interoperable communication system and have shown that support by their agencies’ participation on the various committees. There is recognition that a regional system will require regional governance. A Joint Power Authority will need to be developed to maintain regional interoperability once attained and to put the policies in place to allow the stakeholders to support the system as it develops.
