To schedule an inspection, call (510) 238-3851 and follow the prompts to request inspection. Have the following information ready: 

• Type of inspection needed (i.e. fire alarm, hood & duct, sprinkler, evacuation), 

• Oakland Fire Department job number, 

• Name, address, zip code of site, and 

• Company name. (Note: The inspector will not complete the inspection if there are not an approved set of plans at the site.)

The inspector will call you within 48 hours and schedule the date and time for the inspection. The inspection fee is $109.77 per hour, one hour minimum, which must be paid before the inspector comes to the site. Come to the Fire Prevention Bureau office or call to request and pay for an Inspection.  

If you need an immediate inspection you can request an after hours inspection. The minimum fee is $251.00 which covers up to two and one-half hours of inspection time per inspector. Inspections which require more staff or time, are charged additional fees in advance as determined by Oakland Fire Prevention Bureau. Be advised, while the Fire Prevention Bureau makes every effort to accommodate your requests, after hour inspections are conducted based on staff availability.
