Dogs in Parks The City of Oakland prohibits dogs in all wildlife, natural areas, ball fields, schools, playgrounds and parks with the exception of the above listed locations (Dimond Park, Glen Daniel/King Estate Park, Hardy Dog Park, Joaquin Miller Park, Leona Park, Knowland Park, *Shepherd Canyon Trail and *Regional Parks).
Please Note: Dogs are generally prohibited in landscaped parks. The list where dogs are allowed on leash and one off leash location are listed above. *The City of Oakland oversees Shephard Canyon Hiking Trail but it is owned by East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD), please call (510) 562-PARK for rules and regulations, which apply to regional park locations and the Shephard Canyon Road Trail.
