The Camron-Stanford House is a historical landmark and is the last remaining Italianate Victorian on Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. The House offers striking views of Lake Merritt and provides as a reminder of the rich history of Oakland's past.

Built in 1876, it features period rooms and restoration exhibits, the house was built by William Walker Camron and his wife Alice Marsh Camron. It was the original location of the Oakland Museum of California from 1910 ~ 1965, currently the Museum is located at 1000 Oak Street, now just two blocks from Lake Merritt where the Camron-Stanford House resides.

Since 1978 the house has served as an exhibit hall, now housing the Oakland Heritage Alliance, for the community. The Victorian is located on 14th Street and Lakeside Drive, just across the street from the Main Library and adjacent to the Old Municipal Boat House (administrative building for the Parks and Recreation department), along the south-end of the Lake.

Did you know that Josiah Stanford, the founder of Stanford University, also lived in the house? For this and much more information on this historical site, please call (510) 444-1876.
