Davie Tennis Stadium is a public recreation facility operated by the City of Oakland Office of Parks & Recreation. The Stadium site straddles the Oakland/Piedmont border, and was a rock quarry before the tennis courts were built as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the 1930’s. The Stadium enjoys a unique and beautiful setting with the 100-foot canyon walls providing a superb barrier to wind and other distractions. In 1981, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) honored Davie Tennis Stadium with its "Outstanding Public Tennis facility" award.

Court Fees
Court fees must be paid before entering the courts unless the office is closed. The following fees are charged per court used at Davie:

Prime Time
$5.00 per court / hour
Weekends, Holidays, Evenings,
Noon to 2:00 pm, and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Non-Prime Time
$4.00 per court / hour
(Times other than Prime Time)

Special Events
$50.00 a day for Leagues & Tournaments plus courts fees

Senior Discount
Applies to above court fees. $1.00 per court/hour (majority of the players must be 55 or older).

Juniors
All players must be under 16, may use the courts when available without charge on an unreserved basis.

Courts can be reserved up to one week in advance either by appearing in person or phoning (510-444-5663) during office hours. A maximum time of two hours is permitted per reservation. No one is allowed to reserve more than one court at a time. Anyone making more than one reservation per day must revert to the end of the reservation line or wait 15 minutes (whichever requires the longer time) after making one reservation before making the next.

The Stadium office staff will alternate between taking an in-person reservation and taking a phone reservation when people are both waiting in line and calling for reservations. Reservation are valid only when a Stadium employee has confirmed that your requested time slot is available and the reservation is entered on the schedule. Therefore, notes left when the office is closed, or messages left on the telephone answering machine requesting a reservation cannot be honored until confirmed.

Anyone arriving later than 10 minutes past the beginning of his/her court reservation is subject to having the court defaulted to other players unless the Stadium staff is notified before your reservation time that you will be arriving late.

Waiting List
Players who would like to be notified of court cancellations may leave their name and a (local) phone number where they can be contacted, which will be entered on a daily "waiting list." Stadium staff will attempt to contact those on the list in the order the names are entered.

Cancellations
Unless the Stadium is giving a 24-hour advance notice of cancellation of part or all of your reserved court time, you must pay for your entire reservation. Anyone failing to show up for a reservation shall be required to pay for the missed reservation, and may be required to pay for any future reservation at the time it is made.

Since the purpose of Davie Tennis Stadium is to provide superior facilities for the enjoyment of tennis, any conduct on the premises that would distract players is expressly prohibited. Such conduct includes noise making and loud talking.

Tennis instructions should not be allowed unless given by City of Oakland instructors.

No "wheels" (skates, etc.) shall be permitted on the courts, and no motor vehicles shall be permitted past the parking lot area.

Bicycles must be "walked" (not ridden) on the Davie premises starting at the front gate. Only tennis related items are permitted on the courts.

Safety considerations require that small children must remain outside the courts.
