Parks and Recreations Shining Star For twenty-one very special years and still counting, Nancy Ong has been providing outstanding community service and recreational opportunities at Lincoln Square Recreation Center. You can find Nancy assisting with youth ceramic classes and senior programs at the center on a daily basis. We would like to honor and thank Nancy for her overwhelming generosity and dedication as a volunteer for the City of Oakland. These qualifications have earned her the recognition of May’s Spotlighted Shining Star for the City of Oakland, Office of Parks and Recreation. “I have volunteered at Lincoln Square beginning in 1983 with MaryAnn Roach (Lincoln Square’s recently retired center director). My children and grandchildren have grown up here, so it is only fitting that I help out at the center.”
Nancy is being honored for her outstanding contributions and support to OPR. She was nominated by staff, administration and customers for decisive and exceptional community service.
