Parks and Recreations Shining Star 
The City of Oakland, Office of Parks and Recreation (OPR) is proud to recognize and show appreciation by acknowledging and taking pride in our dedicated, hard working, knowledgeable, and service orientated employees, volunteers, programs and partners who strive for excellence. We are committed to continually provide the very best service, and improve our facilities, parks, and recreation centers.
In order to acknowledge such outstanding performance, the Office of Parks and Recreation (OPR) features a spotlight on our services, programs, facilities, parks and recreation centers, which may be in conjunction or collaboration with a sponsor or partner. Zermaine Thomas, Public Service Representative with the Central Reservations Unit is being recognized and appreciated for taking pride in Oakland, through committed and exemplary service to city associates, customers and patrons for information and rentals regarding parks, fields, permits and facility. Over the course of ten (10) months, Zermaine Thomas has been providing outstanding service, knowledgeable information to the public and patrons, and dedication to her job for the City of Oakland. These qualifications have earned her the recognition of August’s Spotlighted Shining Star for the City of Oakland, Office of Parks and Recreation. Zermaine is being honored for her outstanding contributions and support to OPR. She was nominated by staff, administration and customers for decisive and exceptional customer service. "The Central Reservations Unit staff members are simply a delight to work with, I enjoy what I do here, and the customers are always so pleasant," said Zermaine. She currently attends the University of Phoenix and is working on completing her degree for Business Management.
