We are committed to continually provide the very best service, and improve our facilities, parks, and recreation centers. In order to acknowledge such outstanding performance, the Office of Parks and Recreation (OPR) features a spotlight on our services, programs, facilities, parks and recreation centers, which may be in conjunction or collaboration with a sponsor or partner. The Good Tidings Foundation
The Golden State Warriors and Good Tidings Foundation did it again, bringing good tidings and joy to the Oakland community as though it were Christmas in October! It was with great honor and esteem that this special event took place, to unveil the completely renovated basketball courts at F.M. Smith Recreation Center in the City of Oakland. This refurbishment ensures that our youth will have a playground reflective of a caring and concerned community and involved corporate citizens. The Warriors and Good Tidings Foundation have collaborated over the past five years to renovate six basketball courts throughout the Bay Area, including Oakland's Brookdale Recreation Center in 1998. Since the program's inception eight years ago, sixteen courts have been renovated and remain a source of neighborhood pride for their adjacent communities. The Golden State Warriors and the Good Tidings Foundation are recognized and appreciated for taking pride in Oakland, through committed service, innovative literacy and educational programs, community outreach that promotes health and wellness, strengthening the community image and sense of place, encouraging participation in recreation activities, and selfless dedication that are beneficial to the youth and community. The Golden State Warriors and the Good Tidings Foundation provide invaluable services, programs, opportunities and hope in Oakland. Celebrating and embracing diversity through committed, responsive, caring and active involvement beneficial to youths, adults and seniors. The collaboration between the Warriors’ and Good Tidings Foundation that has provided beneficial services and programs to the community, are both saluted and honored for their efforts, dedication and commitment to Oakland and the Greater Bay Area.
