Grand Prize Winner Announcements on Thursday
The City of Oakland, Office of Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the first annual Holiday Bulletin Board Contest, which began in December 2003, for all Oakland Parks and Recreation centers.

Mosswood Recreation Center bulletin board

Several centers including Mosswood Recreation Center and Lion's Pool participated in this fun decorating blitz for the holidays with Christmas trees, gingerbread men, reindeer and candy canes lining the bulletin board walls much to the children's delight. Children who attend and enjoy the facilities were encouraged to help decorate their local community center for the holidays.

The Centers were judged on creativity, originality, festivity & holiday spirit and overall appearance with one center to be awarded the Grand Prize Winner by the Director of Parks and Recreation on Thursday, January 08, 2004 at the Lakeside Park Garden Center.

Prizes include a Sega console, Sega controllers, Sega games, activity & coloring books, crayons, sidewalk chalk, art supplies, story books, and more to benefit the children at the recreation center.

A special thank you goes out to Jennifer Koney & Ethel Howze, Recreation Supervisors and Judy Porter & Peggy Vulcas, Cultural Arts Supervisors, who graciously served on the panel of judges.
