County Heroes Sought for Awards Post in the Oakland Tribune on Monday, January 26, 2004 Written by Staff Reports Kindness, Life Saving, Animal Rescue Among Honors Oakland ~ The American Red Cross and the Oakland Fire Department are looking for local people and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding courage this year to be honored as Alameda County Community Heroes. The two agencies are partnering to offer the award for the first time this year. Youngsters, adults, businesses and organizations that have demonstrated courage and character through acts of heroism may be nominated for an award. A ceremony will be held March 18 in Oakland. Nominations are due by February 2, 2004 in the following categories: Life-Saving Award
Act of Kindness Award
Community Service Award
Animal Rescue or Aid Award
