Written by Staff Reports

The Oakland Unified School District will open the Cesar Chavez Education Center located at 2825 International Boulevard, from 12:30-2:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

The complex houses two elementary schools -- International Community School and Think College Now -- as well as Urban Promise Academy, a middle school; and an early childhood education center.

Work on the facility began five years ago and has involved the city of Oakland, the Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools, Oakland Community Organizations, the Collaborative for High Performance Schools, the California Energy Commission, PG & E and other supporters.
