Spring with Studio One Art Center

Spring brings an earlier natural light, skies like Whistler's Grey... and the colorful 8 weeks, April 3 - May 27 program at Studio One Art Center. Yes, reveling in this time of year is highly recommended within the welcome indoor coziness of 1428 Alice Street, that is the present location of Studio One.

Off the corner of 14th Street and Alice, this gleaming Oakland Parks and Recreation facility inspires generations of families to continue 58 years of tradition in art making. The continuity, being enhanced cognitively, and cultural enlightenment flows from child to teen to adult to grandparent to grandchild and so on and so forth. The contact number remains the same (510) 597-5027. Access through website registration is anticipated to take place in early March. Look at some of what there is to involve you and your family;

  1. Attic Children's Theater (for 8-14 yr. olds)
  2. Puppets, Props and Stage Sets (for 6-12 yr. olds)
  3. Wood Assemblage without Tools (for 6-8 yr. olds)
  4. Clay Wheelworks (for 9-12 yr. olds)
  5. Clay, Coloring and Crafts (for 5-8 yr. olds)
  6. Clay for Teens
  7. Arts Camp for children 6-12 and teens, April 10 - April 14, during the second week of the Spring session. Art Is... a presentation of children's art will be on display during the spring session, from April 3 - June 27, 2006
For adults there is:

  4. Abstract Painting
  5. Clay Figure Sculpture
  6. Jewelry
  7. Sculptural Drawing
  8. Glass Fusing and Slumping

  17. Beadmaking
There has been a time change to 6:30-9:30 PM for Studio One's adult classes. Teens 15 and older are encouraged to participate in adult classes. Studio One instructors are teachers who teach teachers, who win distinguished awards.

Join us for an Open House Saturday, March 4 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Also stop in during Oakland's 3rd Thursday Art Walk, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM for light refreshments and viewing and purchasing artist Yinka Adeyemi's African imagery. His art is created with fine bead mosaics, batiks and yarn, and will remain on exhibit until Thursday, March 19, 2006.
