Singer teaches through her music

Oakland singer, songwriter and educator Bonnie Lockhart entertained children with songs and musical games in a free program Saturday at the El Cerrito Library. Lockhart has recorded two albums for children, families and teachers.

The show is one of a series of programs sponsored by The Friends of the El Cerrito Library. The group raises funds to support library services and offer programs for children and adults. For information on the group, call the library at 510-526-7512, or visit ccclib.org/friends/ecl.html.

The El Cerrito Library, a branch of the Contra Costa County Library System, is located at 6510 Stockton Ave. The branch is open Mondays and Tuesdays from noon to 8 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
