Oakland Public Library Seeks Information Desk Volunteers
Posted on the Oakland Public Library website
on Tuesday, February 24, 2004

The Oakland Public Library is looking for volunteers to work at the Main Library's Information Desk, greeting the public and answering the library's general information line for callers. This volunteer job requires basic computer and Internet skills, as well as a desire to assist the public and learn "everything" about the library.

The Information Desk is the first point-of-contact for patrons entering our busy central library and for general information callers. Working alongside library staff, the Information Desk volunteers greet patrons, answer basic questions and refer them to a reference desk.

The Oakland Public Library asks volunteers to make a three to six month commitment working from three to ten hours per week. For more information, contact Nancy Rhoda at (510) 238-2111. The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland.
