The Year of the Monkey Monday, March 22, 2004 Oakland ~ Chinese Lunar New Year took place on January 22 through February 8 of this year, the year 4701 according to the Chinese calendar.  To commemorate the Lunar New Year, Lincoln Elementary School and Lincoln Square Recreation Center held a drawing contest for participating students, in grades Kindergarten through fifth. The Year of the Monkey came alive as demonstrated by all of the gifted and talented youths who participated in this contest.     Winners in each grade were announced on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Lincoln Square Recreation Center.
