U.S. Olympic Team Trials Coming to Oakland

Canoe and Kayak Flatwater Sprint at Lake Merritt
Oakland ~ The City of Oakland, USA Canoe and Kayak and Lake Merritt Rowing Club are delighted by the decision of the United States Olympic Committee and National Governing Body for Canoe and Kayak Sports, to hold the Flatwater Canoe and Kayak Olympic Trials on Lake Merritt/Lakeside Park in Oakland on Thursday, April 15 through Sunday, April 18, 2004.

This much anticipated event will host 50 athletes from around the United States vying for a spot on the US Olympic Team, as reported by the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials web site. The Canoe and Kayak Trials event is the last stop in the United States for these athletes competing for a chance to be a part of the US Olympic Team attending Athens in August.

The USA Canoe and Kayak (USACK) announced the official location of Oakland, California for the 2004 United States Olympic Trials for Canoe and Kayak Flatwater Sprints in December 2003.
