An Asian American Children's Spring Art Exhibition
Posted on the Oakland Library Website
on Monday, April 05, 2004

Exhibit Dates: April 1st through June 30th, 2004
Oakland ~ The walls of the Asian Branch of the Oakland Public Library are once again blooming with the colorful paintings and drawings of young artists from the Channing Art Studio in Berkeley. This exhibit of works, produced by Asian Americans, aged 6-13, from the East Bay, features a range of styles and media, including pastel, pencil, watercolor, and Chinese brush and ink painting, all of which are on display now through June 30th at Asian Branch, 388-9th Street, Suite 190.

The exhibit is put together by Doris Chen, who has been teaching art to both children and adults at her Berkeley studio since 1987. Each year, Chen's young students show their Chinese New Year animal paintings and drawings at the Asian Branch's children's area. Last summer, her exhibit of young people's computer-generated Manga graphics were very popular with patrons of the library.

For more information about this exhibit, please contact the Asian Branch at (510) 238-3400 or visit the Library's Web site at www.oaklandlibrary.org. The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland.
