Oakland Parks & Recreation’s Administrative Offices Moving
Wednesday, April 21, 2004

Oakland ~ The City of Oakland announces with excitement that effective Friday, April 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. the administrative office for Parks and Recreation, which is currently located at scenic Lake Merritt at 1520 Lakeside Drive, will be relocating downtown across from City Hall at 250 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, 3rd Floor, Suite #3330 in Oakland.

In a continued effort to provide prompt and courteous service to our patrons, the administrative office of Parks and Recreation would like to alert the general public, citizens of Oakland and city associates of this change of venue.

Service to the administrative office at 1520 Lakeside Drive will be minimal and access to the building will be limited. In an effort to move equipment. quickly and efficiently, all communication and phone lines are scheduled to be disconnected on Friday, April 23 , 2004 beginning at 2:00 p.m. We will resume full service to our patrons on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. In the meantime, members of the public can visit our website at http://www.oaklandnet.com/parks or visit any of the local recreation centers for information on our programs.

In an effort to provide you with easy access to our new facility, there are several methods of transportation that you may consider as an option. To access our offices by public transportation, please try AC Transit bus lines along Broadway and 14th Streets. BART is also a convenient option, accessible via 12th Street BART station, near the Clorox Building. Parking is available at adjacent garages (such as at the Clay Street Garage) or along the street (which may/may not have parking meters). Please consider public transportation such as a bus or BART (City Center/12th Street). We look forward to serving you and apologize for any inconvenience this move may cause you.

The move is part of the Lake Merritt Master Plan and Measure DD which was passed by Oakland voters in 2002. For more information on Measure DD or the Lake Merritt Master Plan please contact (510) 238-1628 or visit online at http://www.oaklandnet.com/lakemasterplan/default.html.
