Five Star Night Posted in the Piedmonter a publication of the Contra Costa Times on Friday, April 24, 2004 Written by Piedmonter Staff Narsai David to Host Meals on Wheels Benefit Oakland ~ The Alameda County Meals on Wheels annual celebrity chef fund-raiser hosted by Narsai David, will start at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 30. The venue is at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, located at 4700 Lincoln Avenue. Five Star Night raises funds and awareness for Alameda County's seven Meals on Wheels Programs and features a champagne and fine wine reception, silent and live auctions, a gala four-course dinner, and dancing to live music by the Natasha Miller Band. Event organizers aim for this year's event to raise $150,000. Julie Haener, KTVU Channel 2 news co-anchor and reporter, is the evening's special guest. Meals on Wheels provides freshly prepared meals and a caring visit to thousands of homebound seniors each year. David will serve as the host and auctioneer; participating businesses include BayWolf, Bistro Liaison, the Bake Shop, Chez Panisse, Dopo, Grace Street Catering, La Farine, Lalime's, Lisa Lerner Chocolates, Marica Seafood, Picante, Savoy Catering and Events, Soi 4, Soizic and Wente Vineyards Restaurant.
