Millsmont Area to Get Farmers' Market Posted in the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday, May 06, 2004 Written by Michael Collier A section of Oakland without a supermarket will host a weekly farmers market for the next six months to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to residents. The Millsmont Certified Farmers' Market opens Saturday and will run each Saturday through Oct. 30 on two blocks of MacArthur Boulevard between Seminary and 61st avenues, City Councilwoman Desley Brooks said Wednesday. Her central East Oakland district of 55,000 residents has no major grocery stores, Brooks said. The Millsmont business area borders Mills College. The market hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. San Francisco Chronicle: General Contact Information
