The talent show will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Oakland Box Theater, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Tickets are $10. The talent show was founded in 2001 by a group of young teachers who wanted raise money for programs and scholarships while allowing students to express themselves in positive ways and help defeat bad stereotypes, organizers said. The same group founded the Oakland Peace Camp last year to provide summer school programs and activities to replace other programs that had been cut due to budget problems, organizers said. The three-week program featured courses on everything from digital media arts to promoting peace in the community. The camp resumes this year from June 28 to July 9 at the Cesar Chavez Learning Center in East Oakland. Contra Costa Times
