Oakland ~ The Oakland A's have joined Glenview merchants, residents and others to launch the Glenview Neighborhood Association's fund-raising drive to purchase plants for the Park Boulevard median. These plants will complete the permanent irrigation project supported by a gas tax fund and City Council members Ignacio de la Fuente and Henry Chang. Both council members plan to attend the event.

The groundbreaking and fund-raising campaign kick-off will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, in Glenview's business district. Compadres Restaurant will serve as the event's host, providing free light snacks and soft drinks. The median landscape plans, sample plants and a prototype of neighborhood banners will be on display.
