Symphony to Showcase Choral Talent Posted on the Contra Costa Times Website on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 Written by Contra Costa Times Writers The Oakland East Bay Symphony presents its season finale, "Let Us Break Bread Together," at 8 p.m. Friday, May 21, at the Paramount Theatre, 2025 Broadway. The concert is the popular biennial choral extravaganza featuring the full symphony orchestra and over 200 choral singers on stage -- from the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Oakland Youth Chorus and other groups. This year's concert will pay tribute to two late African-American artists -- singer William Warfield and composer/arranger Moses Hogan. The program will include works by Copland, Bernstein and Jackie Hairston, as well spirituals, American popular songs and more.
