Feather River Camp Celebrates Its 80th Year Thursday, June 17, 2004  Oakland ~ Feather River Camp celebrates its 80th year of operation this summer through a camp for families and five camps for children for the 2004 summer session. A long and rich history surrounds the camp, located just outside of Quincy, California in the Sierras. Though still owned by the City of Oakland, the camp is now operated by Camps in Common, a non-profit organization.
Since 1924, Oakland Feather River Camp has been a destination for children and families seeking relaxation, recreation, fun and friendship. Family Camp programs run from July 1 - August 7 and include an Independence Day celebration, Senior Week, Earth Week, Adult Arts Weeks. Guitar, Folk Dance and Storytelling programs. Family Camp activities include horseback riding, ropes courses, swimming, fishing, crafts, campfires, dances and more. A childcare program is available daily. Stay one night to two weeks. Children's camps include a week of traditional camp program for girls and for boys aged 9-14, followed by camp programs focused on the performing arts, social justice issues and a teen leadership adventure program. Financial assistance is available for children's camp programs. The camp with space for 350 campers is available for rental groups large and small.
