Davie Tennis Stadium Tuesday, June 22, 2004 Oakland ~ Davie Tennis Stadium is a public recreation facility operated by the City of Oakland Office of Parks & Recreation. The Stadium site straddles the Oakland/Piedmont border, and was a rock quarry before the tennis courts were built as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the 1930’s. The Stadium enjoys a unique and beautiful setting with the 100-foot canyon walls providing a superb barrier to wind and other distractions. In 1981, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) honored Davie Tennis Stadium with its “Outstanding Public Tennis facility” award.
