Check the Library for Garden Tools Posted in The Oakland Tribune on Monday, July 12, 2004 Written by Oakland Tribune Staff Writers Oakland ~ East Bay citizens looking for cheap chainsaws and weed wackers should take a look in an unlikely place -- their local library. The Oakland Public Library's Temescal Branch has more than 2,000 tools -- ranging from sledgehammers to soldering irons -- ready to loan out for free to residents or property owners in Oakland, Piedmont and Emeryville. The program is intended to keep East Bay homes and yards safe during fire season, and improve the appearance of local neighborhoods. For more information, and for a list of available tools, contact the Tool Lending Library at 510-597-5089, or visit www.oaklandlibrary.org The Oakland Tribune: Cityside
