Oakland City Putting Championship Published by Metropolitan Golf Links on Sunday, June 11, 2006 Over the course of 2 months more than 100 golfers participated in the first annual Oakland City Putting Championship. After several open qualifier events the top scoring players were placed into a match play bracket that took 2 weekends to execute. The final round of matches were played on Saturday, June 10, 2006. When all the dust settled the one golfer left standing was local professional Doug Sager. He beat Stanley Anderson 2 and 3 in the final match by holing a 45 foot snake on a very windy afternoon. The event was open to all adults over the age of 18, and will be held again next April. Attached are photos of the trophy presentation and a re-cap of the match play bracket. (special thanks to Tom Isaak for being here to present the trophy) In addition to the huge trophy, Doug also received a gift certificate for $250 and Stanley received a gift certificate for $75.
