Oakland Library Helps Voters Register Online Posted in The Oakland Tribune on Sunday, August 08, 2004 Written by Staff Reports The Oakland Public Library will be kicking off its voter registration drive this year with a new feature: online registration. The drive, which begins Monday, will include traditional registration forms available to be picked up at library branches. But beginning this year, any computer with access to the Internet, including library computer workstations, can access online voter registration by visiting www.oaklandlibrary.org and clicking on the Register to Vote## @ your library logo. The registration also can be found by going directly to www.yourvotematters.org/ala. The registration forms still require a signature, so users will still need to print them out, sign them and mail them in. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 18, and the library recommends voters who register on the Web site should do so by Sept. 15 to mail in the form by the deadline. Registering through the Web site will help fund libraries nationwide through the Register to Vote## @ your library program, sponsored by the American Library Association and Working Assets. For more information, stop by any library branch, call 238-3134 or visit the Oakland Public Library Web site at www.oaklandlibrary.org . Oakland Tribune: General Contact Information
