Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association 44th Anniversay - 1962~2006 For Immediate Release on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 The Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association is celebrating its annual Moon Viewing festival, "Otsukimi" on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Lakeside Park Garden Center, 666 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland near Lake Merritt from 5:30-9:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Highlights include: Torii Gate (dedicated in memory of the late Oakland Council Member, Frank Ogawa) Japanese "bento" box dinners (sushi & skewered meats/fish-vegetarian available upon request)* - advance order only by 9/25/06 6:30 p.m. - Japanese Martial Arts and Koto performances - Shimaoka Kazusa Kai - Koto performance Shorenji Kenpo Demo (Martial Arts) 7:30 p.m. - Telescopic viewing of the moon and other celestial points of interest - Eastbay Astronomical Society To order your Japanese dinner, send a check for $15 to: Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association |
