Montclair Village hosts the second annual Montclair Jazz & Wine Festival from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10. The Village will be transformed into a pedestrian zone with a wine tasting area, live jazz and cooking demonstrations by local chefs, a street fair with goods made by local artists and merchants, and a "kids town" with face painting, pony rides and children's activities. Details: go to www.montclairvillage.com or call (510) 339-1000.

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 -- mainly in two-hour shifts. They will help set up, sell and distribute wine-tasting packages, assist cooking demonstrators and more. This year, A.G. Ferrari is sponsoring a room for volunteers with free food, drink and a place to recharge. Volunteers also receive a free Wine & Jazz Festival T- shirt and other goodies.

A mandatory volunteer orientation meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at California Savings Bank, 1998 Mountain Blvd. For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, send e-mail to JHachquet@aol.com or call (510) 339-1000.
