Get Your Scare on at the Library this Halloween

October brings some spine-tingling happenings to the Oakland Public Library, so why not celebrate the scary season at one of our special Halloween programs? We have bats, witches, spooky stories and Halloween crafts converging on branches around town. So kiddies, come on down and get your spooky scare on## @ the library at one of these events:

Batopia
Do you think bats are scary? Learn the truth about bats with bat conservationist Maggie Hooper and meet some of her furry friends! All ages welcome!

Scary Stories with the Three Witches of the
Oakland Public Library

The Three Witches are a fun annual favorite for story lovers ages six and up.

Monday, Oct. 25th at 7:00 pm

* Witch Anniversary Party Tuesday at the Dimond Branch. This year, the library celebrates its 10-year Anniversary of hosting the Three Witches. Join us for special musical guest Bonnie Lockhart who will sing her original song, "Who Were the Witches," and a reunion with Witches of the Past, including the original OPL witch, Marian Drabkin.

More (Not So) Scary Stories
Ages three to ten years will enjoy an evening of Halloween stories and treats.

Halloween Crafts
Join us for a crafts workshop titled "Ghastly Ghosts and Mystic Masks" with Robin Goodfellow.

Friday, Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
at Dimond Branch, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue, 482-7844.

Also, stop by for drop-in "Papel Picado Cut-Out Crafts" every Wednesday afternoon in October between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. Ask as the Children's Desk for materials and instructions at Rockridge Branch located at 5366 College Avenue or call 597-5017.
