Montclair Village Halloween Parade Posted in the Contra Costa Times on Friday, October 22, 2004 Written by Janet Levaux The Montclair Village Halloween Parade -- sponsored by the Montclair Lions Club -- is set to take place at 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 29. Kids 12 and under should start gathering near the steps to Montclair Park, on Mountain Boulevard near the Bank of America, at about 3:30 p.m. Parents are asked to accompany their children along the parade route. "The Halloween parade has been a Montclair Lions Club tradition for the past 50-some years," said Leslie Masler, an event organizer for the group. "If by some chance we didn't organize it, the kids would just show up automatically." Free balloons will be distributed before the parade and treats will be passed out in Montclair Park afterward. A hay-ride wagon will join the parade and be available for rides in the park, when the parade is over. The list of participating organizations includes:
Chartered in 1948, the Montclair Lions Club of Oakland, California is one of over 45,000 Lions Clubs worldwide. The group's public service activities aim to assist those with sight, hearing and other difficulties. Each year, the club hosts an Easter Egg hunt, Halloween parade, community flea market and charity golf tournament. Contra Costa Times
