Youth band to present winter concert Posted in the Contra Costa Times on Friday, November 17, 2006 by Vanisha Evans The East Bay Youth Band will hold its winter holiday concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Valley Center for the Performing Arts, Studio Theater, Holy Names University in the Oakland hills. The concert will feature music of various cultures, chamber group ensembles and a sing-a-long. EBYB's youth ensemble for woodwind, brass and percussionist in grades five through nine features students from the Bay Area. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for admission during the school year. The spring session will begin Jan. 9, 2007. Rehearsals are held Monday nights from 6:15- 8 p.m. at Piedmont Middle School. A complete schedule can be viewed online at www.ebyb.org. If you are a young musician who plays the clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, alto-tenor-baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba or percussion, the East Bay Youth Band encourages you to apply for our program, which offers weekly rehearsals, chamber groups, sectional rehearsals with professional coaches and a chance to perform at our winter and spring concerts. Musicians of all backgrounds are strongly urged to apply. EBYB is a nonprofit program of the Young Performing Artist Alliance. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Contra Costa Times |
